When I first read this term, I immediately assumed it was a steel worker - someone who literally fixed broken steel. But ironically, the steel isn't broken before they fix it.
Steel fixers are tradies who position then secure steel reinforcing bars and mesh on bigger construction projects. The steel work is first drawn up by a draftsperson known as a steel detailer, then manufactured, and then a steel fixer completes the actual construction.
