Thinking about apprenticeships - does your business have space for an apprentice?

Here at Service Central we're always conscious of skills shortages, and in an ideal world supply would meet demand and there would be enough jobs to go around for all businesses, and enough businesses to fulfil all jobs. There are certain gaps, often around skilled trades eg air-conditioning, and one of the ways to fill that gap is to increase training in that area and add more skills to the pipeline.

The government are well aware that this training is needed, and they provide many incentives for businesses like yours to take on an apprentice or even more than one.

Incentives to employ and train an apprentice

Certificate II-IV training incentives start from $1250 for most employers and there are also some targeted diploma and advanced diploma qualifications.

Other incentives include:

  • Standard, Additional and Special incentives
  • Support for Adult Australian Apprentices
  • Assistance for Australian Apprentices with Disability
  • Support for employing an Australian School-based Apprentice
  • Securing Australian Apprenticeships
  • Apprentice Kickstart Extension
