Interesting statistics from Victoria's Building Commission

Victoria's Building Commission have just sent out their latest newsletter packed full interesting statistics. To save you from reading the whole thing, here are some of the key points.

In their latest Pulse Newsletter Victoria's Building Commission has shared a number of interesting statistics. They include:

  • 6%increase in the value of building permits issued during 2009, compared to 2008.Source:Building Commission.
  • 3%increase in the number of Registered Building Practitioners (RBPs) registered with the Building Practitioners Board (BPB) in 2009, compared to 2008.Source:Building Commission.
  • 1%of domestic building permits result in a dispute heard at the Victorian Civil and Administrational Tribunal (VCAT) annually.Source:Building Commission/VCAT.
  • Comercial and Retail building permits declined by 30 and 31 percent respectively in 2009 from the previous year.
  • Domestc, Healthcare and Public Buildings permits were all up by 10, 70 and 98 percent respectively over 2008.
  • Victoria represented 28% of all building approvals. NSW and Queensland were 25 and 22 per cent respectively.
