The concrete slab is stepped down with plasterboard covering the step down. the plasterboard is getting damaged from water seeping under the slab from backyard (which is likely to be the major cause). the job is to excavate along the footings in the backyard, waterproof and install drainage pipe (ag line). it may also involve connecting the drainage pipe to stormwater pipes. the stepped wall inside the house needs to be waterproofed which will be done at a later stage. approx. 20 to 25 metres of drainage pipe.

Duplex built on concrete slab with stepped down level on sloping land back to front of house. The gyprock where the step down slab is showing signs of rising damp. Garage has signs of... Duplex built on concrete slab with stepped down level on sloping land back to front of house. The gyprock where the step down slab is showing signs of rising damp. Garage has signs of efflorescence. A probable cause is water coming from the back when it rains and under the slab. The other possible cause would be leaking plumbing.
