Assessment of damp rising mould growing on fabrics in small cottage

Jane requested 3 quotes from Waterproofing Professionals in Newtown

We own a semi detached cottage which has undergone extensive renovations in the back part of the house.

the front room, closest to the street is constantly cold and damp. mould grows on fabrics and wall hangings despite using moisture absorbers.

mould also is concentrated where the carpet meets the skirting and the wall meets the ceiling. it appears that previous owners may have attempted to treat the problem at some point as there is some brick that has been left exposed in a corner. the carpet in this corner is a particularly troublesome spot.

i would like someone to identify the cause and recommend remediation/fix. we then wish to have new built ins installed, new carpet and fresh paint so it can be inhabitable. so if there is a company that has the capacity to take care of all of those jobs it would be highly regarded. if not, happy to go to separate suppliers.

a factor to note (may or may not be related) is we have a large jacaranda tree in the front yard whose root system as upset much of the verandah concrete and front fence. permission by the council has just been granted to have this tree removed which we are doing in the next few weeks.
