Lauren requested 2 quotes from Ventilation Specialists in Port Melbourne
I have 2 bedroom apartment in Port Melbourne with roof ventilation in the laundry and in both the main and second bathrooms.
The ventilation in the main bathroom has not worked since we moved in about a year ago, and appears not to have been working for a while because there has been some corrosion around the edges of the bathroom mirror from moisture build up. The building is about 8 years old.
Both the laundry and second bathroom vents are linked to the same fan via ducting in the roof (which you can see through man holes). The fan turns on when the light switch in the bathroom or laundry is turned on.
In terms of the main bathroom, there is a man hole next to the fan where you can see that the vent is connected to ducting that leads into the ceiling, but cannot see where the ducting leads (it goes into a higher section of the ceiling that there is currently no access). We have attempted to test whether this vent is linked to the others, but found that the main fan does not switch on when the light in the main bathroom is turned on, nor does the vent in the bathroom draw air when the fan is turned on via one of the other lights.
Be my powers of deductin, this either means that the main bathroom is intended to work from its own fan (which is not working) or that no fan was ever installed!
Basically I need someone who has some experience with ducted ventilation to have a look to see if they can figure out why there is no air being drawn through this vent, and hopefully to fix the problem, or install some sort of solution!
The price range I have put is only a guess as I have no idea what might be involved in fixing the problem.
Looking forward to hearing from you..
