Tile a kitchen splashback

Install a tile splashback onto MDF VJ panels. We are thinking of 200x100mm tiles in a straightforward brick pattern, with perhaps just a different colour behind the stove. The area is small, an L-shaped bench about 1.8m along each side. Most of one side is occupied by a window with only about 50mm under it, plus a short length of similar height behind the sink.
