Design construct cantilever staircase for verandah in keeping with house

I have a cantilevered verandah [timber joists] on a fred romberg house to which i want to add a small landing and set of steps.
landing is to be approx 1200 x 1200 steps fall approx 1500.
however, i want to make this landing cantilevered to keep with the look and feel of this architecturally significant dwelling.
to this end i need advice on the feasibility of having a steel cantilever support attached to a stone pier of approximately 500 thickness that will have a diagonal support supporting one external corner of the landing and one side support at the junction of steps and landing. the steel support can be embedded in its own foundation adjacent to the stone wall.
