Extract from builders inspection report: The wall on this southern side is moving from about the centre of the house towards the rear. There is a
vertical settlement crack 40mm at top and 5mm at ground level located about the middle of the wall.
There is also a minor stepped settlement crack below the laundry window and the expansion joint
between the new addition and existing building is opening up by 20mm. Recommend drainage around
house be improved and ground stabilized. Then the wall could be underpinned. The footing/underpinning
and wall needs to be carefully detailed to ensure that cracking is not transferred to else ware on the wall.
