3 year old Maytag Refrigerator Model# GZ2626GEKBSU leaking gas

We have have a 3 year old Maytag (out of warranty) which we paid over $7,000 for.
We have been told by 2 fridge mechanics that it is leaking gas (slowly) and we should 'dump it'. Fridge compartment is working fine but the freezer is not. Have removed the backing and looked at tghe evaporator ... freezing at the top and not freezing on the botton coils.
Surely there is another solution other than 'dumping' it ... can someone help us?
