Tracking a problem in bathroom draining

Recently, I had a semi-blocked shower/bath drain which seemed to be solved through a off-the-shelf drain unblocker. However, during the draining problem, water managed to overflow through to the carpeted bedroom adjacent to the bathroom. Unsure if the bathroom requires new waterproofing or a fix in the shower/bath pipes/draining, but would like to get this problem looked at to prevent it happening again in the future.
