I have a cannon fitzroy gas log fire, about 15years old, never serviced. the flame and pilot go out at times when operating on full heat, and there is a smell like burning electrical insulation. the fan continues to operate. when using it on mid flame setting it seems to only have low flame as if the mid flame is not working. ( there are 3 flame settings - low, mid and full ) i suspect the malfunction of the mid flame is causing a safety cut-out of the gas supply. this has been happening for the last couple of months.
