Rubble pit installation and advice on best location

We are getting solar hot water installed and have been told we need a gravel/rubble pit installed first, for the drain lines to discharge into. We are also planning to install a rainwater tank in the near future, so need advice on whether the same rubble pit can service both the hot water and rainwater tank drainage requirements. Open to changing the location of our hot water cylinder if it means a more efficient plumbing/drainage design!
