Fix leaking freestanding bath

Clawfoot bath currently has a very slight leak around the connector nut.
Have noticed previously there was some silicone around the plug hole which has broken down and no longer around the plug hole (causing the leak?)
Not sure if it was installed correctly previously, therefore would like qualified plumber to view and repair/correct.
