Plastering done on old ceiling to cover glue from foam tiles

I have removed foam tile off my 3 bedrooms and has left ugly glue spots on the ceiling which are extremly difficult to sand off, i was wondering if I could get a professional to 'skim coat' these ceilings (if easier could turn into replacing the ceiling and square stopping ready for painting.
