Plaster over ceiling after popcorn 'spittle' has been removed

the interior is around 68 Square metres. I am having the popcorn ceiling removed (scraped off) and am not sure what will be left but assume that it might need plastering over. I am not too fussed with it looking perfect as the flat is going to be rustic looking in its interior. Its a unit with a unit above it.
