Bad odour/possibly dead animal in gas duct needs removal

We have a bad odour in 2 rooms of our house - recently renovated and new gas ducted heating system. I think it is a dead animal (rat/mouse/possum) somewhere in the ductwork as when we switch the heating off and open the door, the odour is greatly reduced. Can't see any stains on the ceiling so I don't think it's up there.
