The following has been identified by the plumber and recommend- Client contacted us regarding water coming from roof at solar panels. Solar HWS. Switched off water mains. Rheem. 8 years old. Unsure of how long it's been leaking for. When switching off unit, still leaking water. Client has problem with hot water in bathroom basin, hot water is fine everywhere else in the house though. This has been happening for a few months. Client unsure if it's related or not. Client aware of recorded call. Solar hot water panel replacement. upon arrival at the property I have inspected the hot water solar set up on the hot water solar panel on the roof. The custom er had isolated the water to the panels as it was leaking out. When I was on the roof I turn t he water back on so I could see exactly where the water was bursting from. It was then that I saw the water was coming from inside the panel. This is because there was no anti frost valve installed which has failed to stop the panels from freezing overnight which with contraction and expansion has then burst inside the unit. The only way to fix this is to replace entire panel as you cannot replace the copper workings inside the panel. Both panels w ill need replacing panel replacement. Scope of works. • isolate water supply. • Disconnect pipework to solar panel. • Drain water from solar panel. • Disconnect mounting brackets. • Have 2 people remove solar panel. • Safely carry solar panel down to the ground. • Safely lift new solar panel up to the roof. • Install new brass fittings and anti frost valve into solar panel. • Slide new solar panel into mounting brackets. • Tighten mountingbracket • Connect up pipework to new solar panel. • Bleed air from line. • Test unit for leaks.
