Our block is very level and I don't think stairs or a balastrade would be necessary as the drop-down from the deck to the garden would only be slight. The existing patio is partially covered and we'd like that cover to remain but it needs a bit of fixing up (e.g. supports to be replaced, one corner of the wood in the roof is rotting and needs to be fixed up).
