There are 3 shutters at my place needing attention. The first is hopefully relatively straightforward. The winding cable has snapped due to being twisted too many times. Obviously the cable needs... Obviously the cable needs to be replaced but possibly the whole winding unit as well, as this is the 3rd time this has happened over the years. The other two are a bit trickier. The shutters have been not working correctly for some time now. Both are the same size (900mm wide x 2100mm high - this is the edge of frame on the side and top of shutter box to bottom of frame). One doesn't wind up or down without getting seemingly jammed all the time. Opening it up inside (the house) to the small box with the cable usually gets it untangled but obviously this shouldn't need to be done all the time. Once it is untangled, it still doesn't 'drop' properly. What I mean by this is each section outside doesn't sit together like it's supposed to and not allow any light through. I then have to go outside and push the whole thing up a bit to get it to drop with more force which usually (but not always) makes it sit together properly. This has been tinkered with a couple of times for only a limited benefit so I wonder if it's not worth replacing the whole winder, cable and other bits in between. Obviously I defer to the experts though. The second shutter's problem is more minor, and similar to the second part of the previous problem. Namely, it doesn't sit each little section together to keep out the light. It winds up and down (occasionally getting jammed) but doesn't close all the way. I have also been unable to rectify this using the method employed for the other shutter - that is going outside, lifting then dropping the whole thing. That was all very long winded but hopefully explained it in enough detail.

Building permit for garage was issued many years around 1978 and I dod notn know if a new one is required. If it was I would most likely not proceed.
