Some years ago I had a leak in my roof. The roof plumber I hired at the time said that water was pooling in my rusty roof due to an incorrect slope of my gutter. However, instead of fixing... Some years ago I had a leak in my roof. The roof plumber I hired at the time said that water was pooling in my rusty roof due to an incorrect slope of my gutter. However, instead of fixing the roof or modifying the gutter, he simply made a cut-out in my gutter, so that the water would run off down the side of my house instead of pooling in my roof and gutter. Subsequently I also had some roofing specialists in who repaired the rusty spots on my roof. Fast forward a few years ... and my new neighbours are complaining that the water from my gutter - at the point of the cut-out - is running down the side of their house whenever it rains (we have adjoining terrace houses) and damaging their rendering. They have demanded urgent repairs. I don't know what the right solution will be. It may involve repairing or replacing the guttering - but needs to be done in a way that solves the run-off into my neighbours property but doesn't cause the original problem (the roof leak into my upper bedroom) to recur. I need someone who thoroughly understands roofing and guttering issues: (a) to climb up on the roof, have a look, take some photos with their phone, diagnose the problem and outline the right solution (which I would then share with my neighbours); (b) to give me a written quote for the proposed solution, and (c) be prepared to fix the problem ASAP, as my neighbours get very upset whenever it rains. I have attached some photos that my neighbour sent to me.
