I have a large reverse cycle split system a/c unit make is dl, manufactured by teco which is part of Westinghouse. last monday 17/03 it really poured down rain hard and in all directions however by the afternoon it was really humid so when i got home from work i turned it on only to discover that it ran for about 30 secs and the circuit breaker in the powerbox had switched off i had assumed that the unit must have got wet so i left it switched off and gave it a week to dry incase it was just water so on easter sunday i turned the circuit breaker back on and came upstairs and turned the unit on only for it to do the same thing again,the age of the unit is unknown as it was here when i bought the place two years ago. i am insured with suncorp and i have contacted them basically they have told me that i need to get somebody to look at it and if it is under 10yrs old and burned out it will be an insurance claim or if it is damage from the rain they will either repair or replace at their disgretion so basically i need somebody to look at it to tell me what is wrong and if it is not covered by my insurance i need to know if it is worth fixing or would i be better off buying a new one, majority of the time the unit when it was working, worked great, however a couple times the head unit inside the house has frozen the core however turning the temp all the way up and letting it defrost and then turning it back down to 23 (which is where it always is) fixes the problem and it could be weeks but sometimes days before it does it again, i have cleaned the filters everyfew weeks as well as blowing the head unit out with my reversable vacum cleaner as the unit does get used regularly for both hot and cold. i have also contacted teco aust warranty dept as this unit does have a 5yrs manufacturers warranty however they will not endorse it as the age is unkonw and i don't have the reciept from when it was purchased i have been trying to track down the previous owners so as i could get all the information but i have had no success, so if there is anybody who could help me please contact me
