What happens if I don't get matched to enough businesses?

Unfortunately, there is not always an appropriate provider available for each job request. We don't like it, but it does happen.

At Service Central we notify all providers that match your job individually, as well as posting the job on our online open jobs board for 5 days.

If you don't get a response, you've got two choices.

  1. Check out our Directory and call a business directly for a quote
  2. Review your job post and post it again, because sometimes you don't get a response because of these reasons.

  • Not enough information: Check the info that you've entered. The best way to make sure you've advertsied the job well is to think about the questions the business will probably ask when they call.
  • Sent to the wrong type of business: It can be tricky, but use the information in our library to help you understand what kind of business is likely to do your work.
  • Price range is unrealistic: we know that you'll often under-budget a job on the internet, but sometimes it's just too low.
  • The time frame: The time frame possibly comes at a time when they are too busy to accept new work. Remember, the time frame is not talking about how soon you want a quote, it's how soon you want the work to be done!
  • No providers in the area: Service Central is always looking for more providers to ensure that every job posted receives a response, but in some specialist fields or regions where it's tricky enough to find people anyway, we might not have enough to meet the demand. If your specialist job can also be done by a handyman, try that category, or relist the job again.
