Wood burner not drawing properly. Fine mesh on flue pot clogged?

The wood burner has stopped drawing properly. The possible problem is that fine mesh installed around the chimney pot ( to deter birds ) is clogging up. If so needs to be removed and replaced with larger mesh. The previous owners had the flue cleaned about 9 months ago
