Stadt ducted heater - burning smell detected indoors

I have a Stadt ducted heating system bought with the home (~20 year old). The system has worked fine up until late last night when we noticed a burning smell coming out of each of the vents. I switched off the unit immedately and inspected the unit from the outside with no obvious problem.
I am unsure as to when the unit was last inspected or the ducts vacuumed (>5 years).
An inspection and quote required for service/repair, please.
