Brivis buffalo 20 fires up OK & after 10-15min goes out

I have a Brivis Buffalo 20 around 7-10 yrs old
the unit fires up then goes out after 10-15 mins unit tries to relight itself without success.
A plumber looked at it and said LED flashes 3 times on ignition and the old thermostat needs replacing
I called Brivis who said to reset at the power this hasn't solved the problem
so I changed the old mercury thermostat to a honeywell RTH221B. unit fires up (so wiring is OK)
but still goes out after 10-15mins again.
I've also cleaned the return air grille
and will check the ducts any help/advice before booking service much appreciated
