Replacing scoria in driveway and surrounding areas at a unit block

The unit block in which I live needs the scoria replaced throughout communal areas such as the driveway and around the clothes lines. However I would like to discuss the material used with a trades person as I don't think scoria is the best material to be used.
At this stage I am wanting to discus this job further with a tradesperson and receive a quotation (I have absolutely no idea about the size of the area or estimation as to what something like this will cost!). Nevertheless, I am looking to get this job done quickly so I will do my best to have a quick turnaround from quote to acceptance.
