Re-inforce metal gate & dog-friendly weed kill (& poss mow)

Gate: Metal double gate (info carport) needs to be re-inforced somehow (poss drill into concrete so that stake holding it closed has more purchase on the ground) so that houdini dog can't push it open (when he gets excited). However I need to still be able to open it when needed
Garden: Backyard has gone feral over winter with all the rain. Weeks have gone wild and grass is high. I am going to try and mow the grass however am not sure the mower will be up for it. So at the very least I need all the weeds to be poisoned with dog-friendly weed kill (not sure what that may be but standard zero etc not ok) and may need a mow of a approx 4x5m section of grass including removal of grass.
