Create a waterproof space under a deck / balcony

We have a balcony / deck with a large space underneath, and want to use it as storage space. The deck is slatted though and lets the rain through to the under deck space. We'd like to have someone put in some sort of 'roof' in the under deck space so that the space becomes waterproof. Relatively small job but one we'd like done well. Might be as simple as putting in some corrugated plastic sheeting on a slight angle so that the water runs off outside the deck.
