This is the case using both remote controls we have. When the door it shut, it only opens about 3 feet and stops. You then have to hold the button down several seconds for it to open fully (once you have shut it again). Once it is open and you try to close it, it closes a couple of feet and then opens again fully, the chain appears to be spinning and then eventually stops. Our house is approximately 14 years old so the automatic door opening system might be 14 years old. The brand of motor appears to be 'Advanced Garage Door Systems' and the remote controls say 'Dominator'. The remotes look well worn and we would ideally like to purchase 1 or 2 additional (and smaller) ones if thery're not too expensive so we can also have one in the garage rather than having to go to the car to open/close the door. I have listed our budget as $150 - $499 but it really depends what needs to be done and if we purchase additional remote controls.
