I have 14 timber stair steps that require sanding staining and sealing/protection. The stairs have been 3/4 stripped of all paint and the remaining bits of paint will come off with sanding easily. I think the stairs are made of a type of pine but i am not sure. The stair case has easy access to power and has adequate ventilation. The stairs are to be stained to match the floor boards down stairs in a light timber colour.
