We recently looked at a home to buy at Helensburge that did not have a fenced in back yard for our dog. It does have a back fence, but no side fences to the property. We would also need to put in 2 gates to get access to the backyard & a small fence on one side of the house to enclose the backyard.
The problem is that the backyard is on a slope, & the point of the fence is to contain our dog. ( so gaps under the fence would be a problem.
Also we only just looked at this house today so we don't have any measurements. I'm guesing 30-50 metres. We need to factor in the price of fence into the price of the house, to work out whether we can afford it.
