According to building inspector report when I purchased my house, my current smoke detector is not compliant with safety standards as it only has disposable batteries. I have been advised it needs to be hard-wired or have long-life batteries installed. In addition there is only 1 smoke detector in the house, and I may require another to be installed (although the house is only 2 bedrooms, need advice re this).
