Rectify intermittently tripping safety switch

Our safety switch intermittently trips. It can trip up to 5 times per day or it can be fine for a week or two at a time. We have tried unplugging multiple appliances to try and track down what might be causing the problem to no avail. The problem doesn't seem to have any consistent characteristics to help us troubleshoot. A couple of other things to note; 1. We have several dimmers installed which exhort us to "do not use Meggers", and 2. We are not opposed to having a second or even third safety switch installed to help narrow down the circuit on which the problem is occurring if it can't be easily tracked down.
