Pendant light installation - weekend

1950's weatherboard, access to roof cavity through manhole. Remove old pendant light and replace with new pendant light. Our wiring is old and ideally i'd like to replace the line to the fuse box, but I'd rather not replace the whole fusebox with new switchboard right now or do a full rewire (will do that in a year or so when we have the cash to do the whole job). Would consider installing the new light using the existing (old) wires if replacing the line to the fusebox is an issue. The ficture is about 5 metres from the fusebox. Want someone reliable, will be on time, who can come on weekends (Been stood up a couple of times and a bit over it). Cheers
