Rather than a builders pole I’m looking at a permanent connection to a 'meter shed' in the first 5m of the 2 acre block. There is an Energex pylon, I believe with 3-phase power, in place already. There should also be a 25mm Telstra duct buried nearby as per standard development procedures. Work required: Trenching roughly 4m from the Energex pylon to a yet-to-be-built meter shed, plus an additional 2m towards the proposed building plot. A comms cable (Telstra, later NBN) will be laid in the same trench (with adequate separation to Australian Standards) and also rise in to the meter shed. Telstra can attach their grey box to the shed as it is a permanent building and they can have their “First Point” inside the meter shed. The shed will have brick walls to the sides and rear and will probably need an external box with the minimum metering connections and shut-off switches for Energex at the rear. Inside the shed should be the DIN rails with any RCD/switch/breakers required for 3 phases. The ‘A’ phase is to have PV grid feed capacity which will need to be booked in for the full 5kW Two double GPOs or a quad GPO will need to be mounted inside the shed. Both power and comms will need to have outbound conduits and draw cables in place for future work. Capacity for onward connections to the house and workshop (both yet to be built) will be up to 100m so the outbound conduit will need to be large enough to accommodate the required cable(s). Future work will be scheduled once the DA is ready, surveying is completed, and U/G charts have been prepared.
