Hi,
Need compliance with Council’s fire alarm standards for a rooming house.
Issues:
Exit Lights Not working
Emergency Led/Halogen lights not “On”.
Background:
1)14 x fire alarms interconnected (i.e. if one goes off all of them should off).
2) 3 x Exit lights, one behind front door, one in front in the lounge and one upstair (Those green lights). This light is required to be ON no matter what. These lights have a back up battery when alarm goes off, it automatically switches to backup battery which should then gets automatically charged. Some time it works sometime it does not. Currently its not working. My understanding is it is linked to the “relay” described in point 3 below.
3) There 4 x Emergency Led/Halogen Light, These are tiny halogen lights with red led on it. Red LED “ON” means these lights have power. Currently they are not “ON”. The lights goes ON if any of the alarm goes OFF. The electrician says that there is a delay between Alarm going off and Lights turning on. According to the electrician who did the job, the Alarm needs to sounds at least for a minute or so before the relay triggers and relay turns these lights on. Relay also changes above Exit lights to switch to battery power. However, council inspector is expecting it to be instant i.e. as soon as alarm sounds the light should turn on.
We had an electrician who did this job. He did a good job, but unable to get the relay to switch On the emergency led/halogen lights.
Need an experienced electrician who has handled this before and confident of delivering the service.
