i am in the planning stages of building a deck/enclosed pergola to be connected to a weather board house. the deck will be 4.5m x 4.5m; the enclosed pergola will be 4.5m x 3m. i have inquired with the council and they inform me i need a building surveyor. i am doing the construction myself, so need to know what requirements i must meet and have someone lodge the necessary paperwork and organise permits, etc. i am located in footscray, and the council is marybyrnong city council.
