geelong cemeteries trust (the trust) is an incorporated entity of the victorian public sector. the trust manages 13 cemeteries within the geelong region, including geelong memorial park and crematorium.

the trust is upgrading existing lawn areas with new concrete beams and is seeking a skilled concrete contractor (the contractor) to construct 24 concrete beams.

each beam is approximately 82 metres long, 450mm wide and 150mm thick beams totalling approximately 2000 lineal metres.

the trust will remove and store existing plaque mounts, excavate the trenches and supply all material for these works including crushed rock, formwork, f8 4bar reinforcement mesh and 25mpa concrete, as well as reinstate the soil around the completed beams.

the concreter’s duties will involve:
• placement and compaction of crushed rock at a set level.
• setting and aligning concrete forms.
• placing wire mesh.
• placing concrete and screeding.
• finishing the surface to high standard
• removing the forms for the next beam.

the contractor will supply all their own tools to perform the above duties, however the trust will utilise its staff and front end loader for the transporting of crushed rock.

the timing of these works will be dependent on weather, funerals and the removal of existing plaques.

works will commence immediately upon informing the successful applicant, and it is expected that ideally a beam would be poured every 2nd or 3rd working day with a 10 week schedule for the completion of these works.

prior to the commencement of the work, the contractor is to provide copies of their current public liability insurance and work cover insurance and will be required to provide a written agreement to work in a healthy and safe manner at all times, to the directions of the relevant trust’s supervisor and provide evidence that they have:
• the skills to perform this type of work to a high standard.
• the ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
• the ability to make simple calculations in order to read survey stakes and calculate areas and volumes.
• skill in the use and care of hand and small power tools associated with the work.

interested contractors are to provide the trust with a fixed price per lineal metre for the above works along with a resume or company profile.
