The original timber cladding to the dormer window has been covered over using galvanised sheeting on both sides. this is poorly fixednand provides little waterproofing to the inside space. the flashing at the base is a mixture of lead and tin flashing and will need to be completely replaced. we want the window professionally covered with timber cladding and the flashing replaced. we're also still making a decision about whether to replace the window installed and if possible would like to do this at a later stage without damaging the cladding i.e. if 90degree flashings at the front edges of the window can be easily remove then we can access the brackets on which the window is fixed. i think it may be necessary to remove the original cladding and galvanised sheeting and if so i would like to install insulation in the wall cavity and possibly also some roof sarking to provide additional waterproofing behind the timber cladding.
