Structural Work on conventional roof

  We would like to removed the walls between the kitchen and laundry in a 1969 brick veneer home.

All the plasterboard has been removed.

We had a builder friend look at the job. He says we need;

2 x 240mmx45mm @ 4.8m F17 beams nail together to span across one part of the room;

2 x 190mmx45mm @ 4.1m F17 beams nail together to span another part of the same room.

A third beam may need to be placed as well, not sure.

The beams also need to be 'cut in' into the existing roof and the bearers will also need to be trimmed and fitted between the new beams.

The house frame is hardwood.

The house in unoccupied.

We only need the framing done as I can do the plaster work.

I can also provide muscle to help get the beams into the ceiling.
