We have a wooden beam running across our ceiling in both the family and living rooms. in the larger of the 2 rooms, a brick column supports the wooden beam. although the beams must be structural, they make the rooms look smaller and we would like them removed and replaced inside the roof, out of sight. this will mean we can remove the brick column and open up the area a bit more.
