Curt requested 3 quotes from Carpenters in Hawthorn East

  This project is to repair/replace some existing front fencing and old decking – generally in the same style as existing. See attached drawing for rough measurements. All quotes & statements of work should reflect the following:


Front Fencing:
• Front picket fence needs replacing
• Approx. 14 linear meters at ~1200 high
• Remove / dispose old fencing & posts
• Supply/build/install new posts & traditional picket fence
• Include framed car gate & letter box w/ newspaper holder
• Possibly can re-use some posts & pickets
• Current pedestrian swing gate must be saved & re-used
• Current post capitals must be saved & re-used
• One section ~2.1m is a 2-door swing gate on a metal frame; one of these needs a hinge repair/replaced, but frame may be reused
• Prep & Paint

Side Gates: (x2)
• 2x Fence / gates between solid brick walls of house and existing perimeter fence
• Remove & dispose existing fencing & gates
• Supply/build/install 2x fence with gates ~2m wide by 2m high, including support posts
• Gates to be at least 900mm wide (both sides have gates)
• Should match or be in similar style to front fencing
• Need locking latches for each
• Prep & Paint

Verandah Decorative Columns: (x2)
• Remove & dispose existing wooden columns
• Supply & install 2 new decorative wooden columns supporting front verandah roof
• Prep & Paint



 

Rear Deck:
• Main deck is about 3.4m x 8.1m , with a small landing deck a step down which is about 1.9m x 2m (see drawing)
• Remove & dispose of decking & existing hand rails
• Supply & install new decking boards – need recommendations on material
• Supply & install approximately 19 linear meters of hand railing around deck perimeter (see drawing)
• Want a simple picket-style insert from deck to hand railings, with ~6 decorative inserts
• Includes 2 simple swing gates at stairs, with latch hardware
• Prep & Paint

Deck Stairs: (x2)
• Remove & dispose of existing stair cases & hand rails
• Supply/build/install 2x stairs from deck to ground as per drawing
• Each stair is ~2.5-3m long with a rise of 1.8m, and consists of 8 treads
• Include hand railings to match deck railings
• Basically want to replace what is already there (see picture)

General
• Must provide current proof of insurance
• Want minimum of 2 recent references – preferably with pictures
• All materials should be quality, weather treated, or similar.
• Builder will be responsible for carefully removing old structure and materials and proper disposal.
• Strong preference to all materials having an undercoat or being pre-painted prior to installation
• Mature plantings in garden need to be respected and minimal damage done, or replaced
• Prep & painting should include, filling gaps, cleaning/sanding where necessary, 1 undercoat and 2 top coats of a quality exterior paint – match to existing colors of house
