Build a new pergola attached to an alfresco over an existing deck

I am hoping to have a pergola/patio (roofed area) built over my existing decking and joined to my existing alfresco (atm the decking is the width of the alfresco but 4metres longer). At this stage I'm not intirely sure on a gable or flat roof, and I was hoping to go slightly wider than the deck to create a BBQ area beside the deck. I'm thinking a roofed area 4m wide, 5 m long and 3m high. I think the alfresco posts are treated pine painted so I assume this would be similar.
