Modify existing built in cupboards which occupy one wall of a bedroom to form an inverted "U" with a nook for a bed. Cut down existing solid doors (particle board with timber laminate but currently painted). Remove internal shelves and build new sides to the cupboard. Design, fit and finish just needs to be simple and in keeping with the 70s build of the unit. MDF/ply will probably be suitable for most of it.
