We have a two storey townhouse that contains an internal courtyard. the kitchen window (north), downstairs bedroom window (south) and laundry door (west) open into the courtyard. the east wall of the courtyard is on the boundary line.
the area is approx 2820mm x 1800mm.
we wish to put a roof over the courtyard and convert it into a study.
this requires dealing with the water storage drain in the middle of the courtyard and re-routing two downpipes. the flooring will need to be raised to the same level as the laundry approx 150mm.
we will need to build up the east wall approx 1000mm. no issue with the east wall being on the boundary given the rest of the east wall of the two storey townhouse is on the boundary.
we will block in one window opening onto the courtyard - the south window from the downstairs bedroom. there is sufficient lighting and ventilation from other windows in the room.
we would like the roofing to contain one manual velux opening skylight.
