Need to apply for Planning and possibly building permit for shading above fence due to overlooking issues.
I'd like to hear from experienced building surveyor, being able to make below things meet:
1. practicality - re-use existing fixtures - avoid new work and material if possible
2. regulations - propose maximum allowed by regulations that's still feasable
3. effect - solution that's going to make the difference
I have an existing shade sail in continuation of the fence, installed 9 years ago (survived some strong wind, concept proven?). Council noticed there was no permit granted for that and they want me to take it off.
However, I've put it up for overlooking issues, not for fun.
I'm aiming to scale the shade sail down, probably bring it lower and reinforce if and where required and minimise works and material.
