I am looking to purchase a house in which the lounge room walls have a combination of fibro (above a picture rail) with timber panelling/veneer (below the picture rail). There is some damage to the timber panels, which form the lower part of the walls. Ie there appear to be only wall studs below it. I am happy for the fibro to remain but would like to replace the timber with masonite (or similar wall panelling).
As it's an older style home, and the walls above the picture rails are fibro, am guessing they may contain asbestos. I'd like to know how much it would be to safely replace the lower parts of the walls in this room please.
