Ways to Clean a Stovetop

You need to clean the stove, it might have something burnt onto the stovetop or just need a good stove cleaning. You have tried to scrub the stovetop, but the mess just won't budge. You want to use something stronger but are concerned that you might scratch the stovetop. What can you try?

General stovetop cleaning
