A heat pump is a smart appliance that moves heat from one location to another using a small amount of energy. Heat pumps pull heat out of the air or ground and transfer it to a building, but can also work in reverse for cooling purposes. Heat pumps and air conditioners work similarly but heat pumps can also be used to heat water in tanks.
Heat pumps are mostly used to heat air (or cool air) for use in temperature control inside your house, but can also be used to heat water. Heat pumps work best in moderate climates (remaining between 4.4 degrees celsius and 32.2 degrees celsius year round) but remember you can also install them inside to ensure that these optimal temperatures are maintained.
There are lots of different types of heat pumps, both to heat or cool air or water, and can also be used in combination with existing tanks, retrofitted, used in combination with an instant hot water service and many more combinations.
